Response to Intervention

I'm a geek. This makes me drool.

Response to Intervention (RtI) is coming sooner than we sometimes think.  It's an all new way to determine which students need additional interventions and whether or not those interventions are successful.  (But this isn't the time or place for a detailed overview.)

However, I will offer this bit of research for your perusal.  RTI: The Best Intervention Is a Good Book.

As simply as I can restate it, the research shows that the number one way to positively influence student reading comprehension and motivation to read is to surround them with books.  Don't believe me?  Are you thinking, "Yeah, whatever, reading teacher.  Show me the research that proves THAT."
