We've talked about and used online comic creators in the classroom, but one of the best is Make Belief Comix. It is simple to use, limits options so kids don't get overly distracted with bells and whistles, and it is designed specifically for kids so there's no "interesting" content.
Make Belief Comix offers a site dedicated to educators with 21 ways to use their site in the classroom. Some of the more creative ideas include:
- Make a comic using vocabulary words.
- Make comments to share opinions about various topics like current events (or books, projects, etc.)
- Create storyboards for original stories.
There is also a short page that talks about using the site with special needs students.
